Cash for Kids supports Fast Forward Families

06 April 2021

The Ask Dad More programme supports dads and male carers in their parenting role, with a focus on improving their children’s health outcomes, including supporting them to take a harm-reduction approach to their own, or their children’s, risk-taking behaviours.

CV-19 has required us to adapt aspects of our work, in ways that we had not anticipated, to support dads and their children through times of crisis over the last year.

This included supporting families with digital connectivity and IT equipment to allow dads to engage in our digital activities, as face-to-face working ended.  We have accessed crisis funds for families to enable them to pay their power bills, buy shopping and other essentials.

By supporting dads with these costs, they have then been able to use their own limited resources to furnish their children’s bedrooms, or buy birthday and Christmas presents.

The following quotes are from some of the families who received much needed, and very much appreciated, funds from Cash for Kids.

“That’s amazing. Thank you so much. I just started crying reading that (the message to confirm that the application was successful). I’m so grateful. It’s my daughter’s birthday on the 18th of March so it will let me give her the birthday she deserves.”

“Thank you and the Cash for Kids team so much.”

“This is going to make a hell of a difference to us. Thank you”

“This is great.  We’ve been struggling financially during lockdown and have been knocked back for other bits of support, so this is amazing. Really, thank you!”

“The support from Cash for Kids has been an absolute lifeline for us. Without this and the help from Fast Forward, I don’t know what we would have done.”

“Cash for Kids is a great charity. We’ve often bought presents for their Christmas kids appeal. It’s nice that when we’ve needed their help, they’ve been there for us too.”

“Money has been tight since I had to reduce my hours at work because of Covid-19. Every bit helps keep us going. Pass on my thanks to Cash for Kids.”
