SMARTER Project
29 October 2012
My name is Jay Wardrop and I work in partnership with Enable Scotland delivering the SMARTER Project. I have teamed up with Ashley Ryan from ENABLE for the project which stands for Substance Misuse Awareness Reaching Teens with Equal Regard. Our remit is to design and develop and deliver and educational resources for practitioners that work with young people with mild to moderate learning difficulties.
Throughout our project we will be working with practitioners and young people all over Scotland asking them what they think is needed for this resource. We will also be engaging young people’s parents as well to see what support they also might need regarding issues around substance misuse and risk taking behaviors.
There will be peer education projects popping up with young people and young people with learning disabilities working together to get their message about substance misuse out there too, watch this space!
We will launch the educational resources the middle of 2013 along with leaflets for young people with learning disabilities and their parents.
So lots going on!
