Fast Forward Volunteer on Panel in Live Broadcast!
24 May 2013
It’s been an exciting week for Fast Forward as Volunteer Jenny Revel has represented the organisation on a national GLOW Meet for Primary Sevens as part of Choices For Life. Volunteer Jenny with panel members, presenters and Glasgow Commonwealth Games Mascot, Clyde the Thistle. Choices for Life is an innovative diversionary and educational initiative delivered by Police Scotland and funded by Scottish Government.
The main objective is to raise awareness amongst young people aged 11-18 about the risks and dangers of substance use and misuse, including smoking, alcohol consumption and drugs.
The Choices For Life website features films, information and activities for young people, parents, carers, teachers and youth workers.
Through the year, Choices For Life offer Glow Meets – a chance for schools to tune in live online to watch a drama and ask a panel questions about it. As experts in alcohol information for young people, Fast Forward were invited to have one of our volunteers on the sofa as a panel member.
Long term peer educator, Jenny Revel jumped at this opportunity.
Jenny said “I wanted to be a panel member to represent Fast Forward. I think it’s a great organisation and I like their mindset and approach. I wanted to share this as a Choices For Life panel member.”
“It was nerve racking I wanted to make sure I answered the questions correctly, accurately and in an interesting manner. Once I’d been through the rehearsals it was much easier.”
Jenny was joined on the panel by Dr Andy, an Accident and Emergency consultant and two of the actresses from Pace Youth Theatre who starred in the films.
Jenny commented “It was really great fun, I was delighted to be involved.”
