Fast Forward Volunteer Shortlisted at The Edinburgh University Volunteer Awards
25 April 2013
A celebratory night was had by volunteers at the first Edinburgh University Volunteer Star Awards on Monday night. The ceremony, held at Teviot Row House, honoured students who had given their time to local schools, the University and wider community.
Fast Forward Volunteer Co-ordinator Chiara and short listed volunteer Manon
PhD Student, Manon Ragonnet has volunteered with Fast Forward for over a year and was nominated by the Fast Forward team for her commitment and input to the organisation as a peer educator. Over this time Manon has been involved in many of Fast Forward’s projects, including supporting at a residential training, health fairs and sessions in schools and youth groups. Most recently Manon has written and submitted a funding application which aspires to take herself and fellow volunteers to Shetland to deliver training on peer education and drugs to youth groups on the island.
Manon’s endeavours saw her short listed for the Community Volunteer Star category, and although she didn’t win she was delighted to be in the company of so many other committed and inspiring young people.
The Fast Forward team look forward to following this up with a celebratory event of their own during Volunteers Week, coming up in June.
