Introducing Jordan Anderson – Shadow Board member
17 November 2022
My name is Jordon Anderson, I’m 22 years old and I’m from Aberdeen. I am one of the newest recruits to the Fast Forward Shadow Board and cannot wait to get stuck in! Away from Fast Forward, I am a keen musician, I enjoy talking about conspiracy theories, history and politics. It would be my dream one day to sit as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP).
For me, I felt like getting involved with the Shadow Board at Fast Forward was something I had to do. For too long now, we are seeing young people misuse drugs and alcohol, not to mention that we are the worst country in Europe for drugs deaths. I strongly believe that instead of looking at Substance Misuse as a justice issue, that we need to see it from a health perspective. It is becoming an epidemic and people are dying because of it! Things need to change, and fast.
In terms of my personal goals, I want to ensure I am more understanding of those who have issues with substance misuse/abuse. Previously I haven’t been that well informed and it has led me to addiction myself. I want to ensure that our young people have the skills and knowledge to avoid addiction and live a happy, healthy and safe life! In terms of what I think the goals of the shadow board should be over the next two years: I think we need to be doing all we can to find out what really drives young people to addiction – some of the causes can’t be fixed by education or justice.
So, what else should we do to fix the epidemic we face?
Come join the team! We’d be so happy to have you with us.
