Introducing Lauren Marr – Shadow Board member

I’m Lauren Marr, I’m 18 years old and studying law at Dundee University.

My hobbies include socialising with friends, spending time with my family and pets, going outdoors and travelling.

I joined the Shadow Board as I feel it is an easy way to make an impact on how we approach risk-taking behaviours, and to keep the ideas relevant and fresh from a young person’s perspective, as we are able to provide invaluable first hand experiences.

I believe the biggest issue facing young people today is toxic and controlling relationships. I feel that other issues such as drugs and alcohol have a bubble of awareness and understanding around the risks.

However, due to a lack of knowledge and recognition of coercive control and abusive relationships it remains very much a taboo topic.  Few conversations are had on these topics leaving young people in vulnerable situations not knowing warning signs or how to get help.
