Introducing Shaun Horne – Shadow Board member

Hi, my name is Shaun Horne, I use He/Him pronouns and I am 20 years old. Things I enjoy include travelling, volunteering, and food as I am such a foodie.

I chose to get involved in the Fast Forward Shadow Board as I knew someone who works with Fast Forward, and they told me how good of an organisation they are, so I just had to check them out and get involved with them. I am also passionate about education and want to learn more about alcohol, smoking and substance misuse as well as any other topics that may come up.

I hope through volunteering with the Fast Forward Shadow Board I can increase my knowledge of these topics and support other young people to make well-informed choices and decisions about risk-taking behaviours.

I want the Shadow Board to tackle how there needs to be increased awareness of drug, alcohol, and substance abuse services as I have not heard of a lot of drug, alcohol and substance abuse services or centres. I also want to tackle lack of Mental Health services for young people due to long waiting lists, not enough staff etc….. and how they need to be more inclusive for young people and people of ethnic or minorities background.
