Making Waves Together: Collaborating with Colleges & Universities
24 September 2025
In the charitable sector, partnerships are not just helpful—they’re essential. From smaller grassroots initiatives to larger, more established charities, working with other organisations, professionals and students can unlock the door to new skills, fresh ideas, and greater impact. At this time when charities are being asked to do more with less, collaboration can offer brilliant solutions.
Building a Culture of Community
Ultimately, collaboration is about building a stronger, more connected community. By working together, we model the kind of inclusive, cooperative space we’re trying to encourage. Partnerships show that we’re not in competition, but united in our aim to make meaningful change. Scotland is full of talented young people and we are always excited when opportunities arise to work alongside them.
Empowering the Next Generation
Our team always find working with students to be incredibly valuable. Whether through internships, placements, volunteering, or collaborative projects, students bring a fresh perspective, energy, and creativity that can invigorate our work and give us their take on things – hugely valuable, especially in youth work.
Students also benefit from these opportunities. Gaining real-world experience, completing modules and developing professional skills, as well as building confidence in their ability to make a difference. By supporting their development, we help foster an upoming workforce of socially conscious people who understand the real value of giving back.
Shared Knowledge and Expertise
No organisation has all the answers. By collaborating with other charities, community groups, volunteers, colleges, universities and businesses, we gain access to a wider pool of knowledge and experience. We’ve enjoyed creating resources, toolkits, movies and so much more.
We were delighted to be involved with a talented group of students from Napier University on this project, creatively entitled Fast Forward: The Movie that we’d like to share with you. .
Have a wee watch, we hope you enjoy it, we’d love to know what you think!
