No Knives, Better Lives: We-CTV Awards
25 March 2013
Hello, Sonal here.
Was lucky enough this last week to be invited along to the No Knives, Better Lives We-CTV awards at the Glasgow Science Centre. For those of you that haven’t heard of it, We-CTV is a great initiative run by the Scottish Youth Parliament as part of the NKBL campaign. Young people submit entries of short films spreading messages about knife crime that they feel is important.
The awards ceremony revealed local area winners for both of the competition’s regions (North-East-Central and West), awarding silver prizes of video recording equipment and gold prizes of the equipment alongside a shiny new laptop for each of the young people involved!
The overall winners also get a great “money-can’t buy” prize of work experience at the Leith Agency.  I had a great time…despite being the only person in the audience who didn’t seem to have ever watched Still Game or know who Naveed (presenting the awards) was! Thanks again to NKBL and SYP for a great night!
You can read more about this event, as well as watch the winning film from Castlehead High called “Keep Your Colour” on SYP’s blog.
Let us know what you think of the films!
