No Knives, Better Lives Youth Summit!
08 February 2013
Hi everyone,
So it’s been a hectic few weeks but all been worth it as the No Knives, Better Lives 2013 Youth Summit was a huge success!! This all day event at the Glasgow Science Centre brought together young people from across all 10 NKBL areas to give them the opportunity to get their voices heard and have a say in how they want the NKBL campaign to be shaped in the future. The action packed day included creative workshops, a graffiti mural, a video diary booth, professional rap artists, the Cabinet Secretary for Justice Kenny MacAskill, lots of glowsticks…you name it we had it!
The feedback we’ve been getting has been really positive and there’s been some great coverage in the media as well as all over Facebook and Twitter. Here are some of the best links:
This clip was the lead story on STV news on Saturday:
There’s some great photos and a time capture of the Graffiti mural being worked on the No Knives, Better Lives Facebook page:
And our very own Rona has pulled together a Storify showing some of the Tweeting that went on.
For me, co-ordinating such a big event has been a great new challenge and seeing it all come together on the day was a great achievement for everyone involved. The event worked in partnership with YouthLink Scotland, YoungScot, SYP, Dare2Lead, Encourage training, NRFG, Impact Arts, Graffiti4hire, Stripe Communications, Tom Allan, Ogilvie design….the list is endless! Big thanks to everyone involved, including our own lovely volunteers Manon and Kristy for their help in the build up to the event.
Let me know what you think of any of the links, or the event in general, in the comments section below.
I look forward to hearing from you!
