Roma community toolkit launched!

We are delighted to publish our Roma toolkit, coproduced with women from within the community, to help anyone supporting the Roma community around gambling harm.
Through our partnership with The Space, we knew that members of the Roma community in Scotland were already at risk of gambling harm, even though virtually no research had been carried out. To help address these harms, our toolkit was created to help build an understanding of terms and concepts used in gaming, in addition to similarities between gaming and gambling. It includes useful resources for parents, carers and those working with children and young people.
The toolkit is available in English, Romanian and Slovakian to represent the largest Roma communities in that part of Glasgow.
The Roma language is such an old language that many of the modern gambling terms don’t exist. We have therefore chosen to replace them with either Romanian or Slovakian terms (largest communities of Roma in Govanhill).
The team would like to say such a huge thank you to all the women involved. Getting to know them all personally and learning about their community has been one of the most rewarding and eye opening experiences. We only hope we can continue to do some great work together!
