Success! 25th Anniversary Celebrations at the City Chambers
Last night the team here at Fast Forward had a great time at the City Chambers celebrating its 25th anniversary with the Lord Provost and 80 guests from partner organisations, as well as funders, former staff, volunteers and supporters from across Scotland.
The night launched with a warm speech from the Lord Provost who commended Fast Forward on the valuable work it’s been doing for young people across Scotland since 1987, before guests were invited to enjoy the interactive timeline put together by the staff team.
The timeline, which was carefully planned over the course of a month before being thrown up onto display boards and flip chart stands in a record twenty minutes, featured a large number of our publications from the past 25 years. Many of the guests who were involved with Fast Forward years ago were delighted to see publications like ‘Good Crack’ (1987) and ‘Bolt Ya Radge’ (1995), while others were bemused to engage with some of the obsolete technologies on display, such as a VHS player, a Gameboy, and a cassette Walkman. In fact, you can see from the photos below that a certain guest from Crew2000 enjoyed the ‘Electropop’ cassette so much she kept the Walkman with her for the whole evening!
Readers will also be pleased to hear that the large foil ’25’ balloons used on the night were recycled; One was given to one of our volunteers who was extremely keen to take it home, while another was taken home by staff member Chris for his very young daughter who was initially scared of it, but is now delighted and calls it ‘panda’.
A huge thank you to everyone who came and contributed to the buzzing atmosphere on the night, and to the hard working people involved in making it happen.
