Taking the Lead: Photographs

11 June 2014

Fast Forward, SPEN and charity partners Crew were delighted with the turnout at the June 6th conference Taking the Lead: Peer led approaches for young people. Held in the beautiful venue St. Paul’s & St. George’s Church, the event was a huge success and saw charitable organisations from as far afield as London and the Shetland Isles coming together to celebrate and be inspired by young people in leading and influencing their peers.

Over the course of the day, delegates heard talks by Tam Baillie (Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young people), Jordan Linden (Member of Scottish Youth Parliament), Marilyn Slavin (Director of Common Knowledge UK), Saul Day (Project Officer at Shetland’s OPEN Project), and Lisa Murphy (Manager of Young Scot’s Co-Design Projects).

Delegates were also invited to enjoy workshops delivered by ASH Scotland, Fixers UK, BeatBullying, Shetland’s OPEN Project, Young Scot, Youth Scotland and Fast Forward, and William Golding of Edinburgh Council.

In addition, exhibitors held stalls to enrich the conference and increase awareness of their organisations, including Xchange Scotland, Character Scotland, CrossReach, CKUK, Crew, Fast Forward & SPEN, ASH Scotland, Fixers UK, BeatBullying and Young Scot.

Volunteers from Fast Forward and Crew helped to make the event possible, as well as volunteer journalist Catherine from youth radio charity Podium.me and freelance photographer Brett McCarthy.
