Gillian McNeil
Gillian is born and bred in Glasgow and joined the Board at Fast Forward in August 2023.
Gillian has a degree in English and History; a post graduate degree in Primary Education; and holds Scotland’s Qualification for Headship. She served as a teacher in Glasgow for 15 years, with 6 years of that time spent in the role of Depute Head Teacher. She now works at the University of Strathclyde teaching predominantly on Educational Leadership programmes.
Whilst working in school, Gillian was the Child Protection and Safeguarding Officer and served on the local authority’s Child and Young People Services Working Group. She now leads on the safeguarding modules for the Initial Teacher Education programme at the university and in August of this year, she begins her Doctorate in Education, specialising in this area. Gillian looks forward to bringing this experience to the board.
In her spare time, Gillian is an international cheerleading judge and judges at large scale competitions across the UK and Europe.
