Jamie Wells
Project Officer, Scottish Gambling Education Hub
Jamie was raised on the east coast of Canada and moved to the UK 10 years ago. Jamie’s first passion is music, and on the lucky chance of playing a gig in Scotland, he fell in love with Edinburgh and decided to make it his permanent home.
After completing his first degree in Hospitality and Tourism, Jamie went to work for Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, traveling all over the world, in several different positions. When he felt like a change of scenery, he decided to pack up and move across the ocean. While managing different hotels and restaurants in Edinburgh, Jamie started to volunteer with Bethany Christian Trust and as a Street Worker for Simon Community. He has always had a passion for helping people, working as a lifeguard and EMT in the past can attest to this, but this was the first time he had felt like it was his calling.
Jamie decided to enroll in the Social Work degree programme at the University of Edinburgh, where he worked in statutory roles with in adult and child protection as well as third sector roles with Circle and Four Square as a family outreach worker and a housing support officer respectively. While at Circle, he also did joint work with Fast Forward and its Dad’s supportive work. After graduation, Jamie continued working in hospitality as well as volunteering at Bethany Christian Trust and working part time as a support worker with Cyrenians. Jamie has been working at Fast Forward since May 2023.
In his spare time Jamie enjoys music, singing in a soul and gospel choir, he enjoys acting, movies, ice hockey and spending time with family and friends.
