The SPEN Advisory Group
12 November 2012
Now the excitement of youth work week is completed it’s back to the regular workings of SPEN. The Network operates an advisory group of active peer education organisations who meet quarterly to discuss current programmes, funding, accreditation, share resources and generally network.
We have lots of great programmes who attend including the Red Cross, W-West, The Corner, Eclipse, The Connect Project, Accelerate, DRC and No Knives Better Lives, Mentor Scotland , SmartLiving and CKUK. Click on their names to find out more about them.
Many of the groups have a health remit, but not exclusively, and it’s great to regularly see and hear the super achievements the groups have delivered each quarter.
I’m currently putting together the agenda for our next meeting – we’re delighted to have a guest speaker from the BIG Lottery Fund to talk us through the various steams of funding suitable to peer education as well as common pitfalls in applications. Funding is, as ever, a challenge for the whole sector so it will be great to hear more about routes to supporting our projects.
Do you have any questions you’d like us to put to the Big Lottery about funding? Add them in the comments and we’ll ask them on your behalf.
