Goodbye Blue Monday! Youth work mental health toolkit – free download
19 January 2015
It’s the beginning of a new year. But let’s face it – January and February are not most people’s favourite time of year, and for some young people it could be especially grim.
There is research to show that young people may be affected by Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) during the winter period, marked by other changes in behavior related to school, attitude, appetite, sleeping patterns, and social functioning. Even if a young person is not affected by SAD, the lack of daylight and the decrease in social events may be depressing.
So here’s an excellent mental health resource put together by young people of Article 12, a charity based in Montrose which works with young people from Gypsy Traveller communities. It features a handy 2 hour workshop, complete with all printable hand outs, that you can incorporate into your existing work with young people.
